Description

Project Momentum has partnered with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to provide an approved program for completing the 45 hours of required professional development related to multilingual learners. Participants who complete the Project Momentum 45 hour PD program will be issued a single certificate to submit with their license renewal application.

This course equips educators with practical strategies to support multilingual learners through culturally responsive teaching, language and literacy development, and inclusive instruction. Participants learn how multilingual learners acquire language, how to create equitable classroom environments, and how to integrate language support into daily instruction across content areas. The course also explores evidence-based literacy practices, use of the WIDA standards, instructional scaffolds, assessment accommodations, and collaborative practices that help multilingual learners access grade-level learning and thrive academically.

About This Course

This course is a curated learning experience that combines several Project Momentum professional learning courses into one cohesive program designed specifically for Colorado educators.

The course includes:

  • Free Project Momentum courses, including those based on the WIDA English Language Development Framework.
  • Additional premium Project Momentum professional learning content.
  • New Colorado-specific examples, resources, and instructional guidance.
  • Revised organization, transitions, and learning activities that create a seamless learning experience rather than a collection of standalone courses.

Course enrollment provides access to this integrated learning experience, including the Colorado-specific content, curated learning pathway, and premium instructional resources.

What to Expect

This is a self-directed learning experience designed for independent learning. The course includes guidance, resources, and application activities that allow participants to engage with course concepts and apply their learning to their own educational contexts.

Throughout each module, participants will complete application activities and learning tasks designed to support engagement with the content. At the end of each module, participants will submit a cumulative reflection demonstrating their engagement with the module content and key takeaways.

Individualized support is not provided. This course does not include coaching, facilitation, or personalized assistance. If you find that you would benefit from more direct support or interaction, we encourage you to explore programs or offerings that provide those elements.

Course Completion Verification

Course completion is verified through completion of all course content and submission of cumulative reflections at the end of each module. After all course content is complete and reflections have been reviewed, participants will receive a single certificate of completion that may be submitted to the Colorado Department of Education to meet the 45-hour professional development requirement.

To ensure compliance with professional learning expectations, Project Momentum may request additional evidence of learning beyond the required module reflections when a participant completes the course in less than expected instructional time. In these cases, participants may be asked to submit one or more unit culminating tasks or other course artifacts demonstrating successful completion of all course content. These requests are part of our standard quality assurance process and do not necessarily indicate a concern with a participant’s work.

Certificates will be issued within two weeks of course completion. If you need your certificate sooner (for example, for an upcoming license renewal deadline), you may request an expedited review and certificate after you complete the course.
