Description

This course supports educators in interpreting Minnesota’s READ Act in relation to multilingual learners and implementing culturally responsive literacy instruction. It provides a high-level overview of  the implications of the science of reading movement and research-based, critical elements of literacy instruction for multilingual learners. This short course is a good fit to contextualize the MN READ Act and SoR with research on multilingual development.

Objectives

Consider differences impacting literacy development between monolingual English learners and bilingual learners.

Identify research-based, critical elements for literacy instruction through a lens of multilingualism.
