Description

This is the first course in the Multilingual Learners with Disabilities micro-credential series from Project Momentum. This course may be taken as a standalone professional learning experience or bundled with the full series to earn the micro-credential.

The purpose of this course is to establish foundational knowledge of language acquisition, disability categories, and equity-focused education.

Objectives

Explain how second language acquisition, disability, and opportunity to learn interact in the educational experiences of multilingual learners.
Apply principles of culturally and linguistically responsive education to describe asset-based approaches to teaching multilingual learners.
Identify patterns of disproportionality and inequity affecting multilingual learners in special education.
Apply legal and civil rights.
